The always-prolific The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die put out a career-best album with last year’s Harmlessness, and they’re already back with two new songs. The Long Live Happy Birthday 7″ comes out March 25 via Topshelf (pre-order), and “Katamari Duquette” off of that is streaming now. It’s not a million miles away from what they were doing on Harmlessness, but this is no throwaway b-side. It opens up sounding like clean slowcore and it ends with something that borders on metal. They build up and back down and up again in between those two bookends, and even when they’re structuring songs like a post-rock band they’re lyrical as ever. Listen below (via NPR).

The band will soon be touring with Into It. Over It., The Sidekicks and Pinegrove. That tour hit NYC on April 22 at Irving Plaza (tickets).
