The xx's Oliver Sim released his debut solo single, the Jamie xx-produced "Romance With a Memory," last month, and now he's followed it with a second, "Fruit." Like "Romance With a Memory," "Fruit" was produced by Jamie xx, and it's accompanied by a video directed by Yann Gonzalez. "Oliver and I have so much in common: we love pop culture, horror films and we used to be femme kids before turning into proud queer adults," Gonzalez says. "So, when he asked me to work on his poignant solo tracks, most of the ideas popped up quite naturally and the 'Fruit' video became this magic tale of liberation that the lyrics and the emotionally driven music already implied. The song and the TV show here are like a multi-faceted mirror where Oliver and the kid, the live performance with its crew and flirtatious TV host, the 35mm film and the Ikegami video all shine and merge in order to create the same exhilarating feeling of being freed." Watch the video below.

Oliver has also announced his first solo shows, happening in May in London, Paris, Berlin, NYC (Bowery Ballroom on May 15), and Los Angeles (Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever on May 17). Tickets to the NYC show go on sale Wednesday, April 13 at 10 AM, with an artist presale starting Tuesday, April 12 at 10 AM.
