The Yummy Fur canceled North American tour, recorded w/ Robyn Hitchcock (listen)

Scottish cult indie band The Yummy Fur were supposed to be touring North America with Bodega and Future Punx in November and December, but those dates have now been canceled. (The NYC dates was to have been at Elsewhere on 12/3.) Reasons for cancellation haven’t been shared (visa issues?). Here’s the official statement:

Unfortunately this tour has been cancelled. The decision was made a few weeks ago to not go ahead but the cancellation process has been convoluted and this news has been slow to surface. We have waited this long to give everyone involved time to put their house in order. We apologise to the many people who may already have made or be in the process of making travel and accommodation plans. The tour will hopefully be rescheduled for next year.

The band, which includes members of Franz Ferdinand and the 1990s, were going to tour in support of new best-of compilation Piggy Wings which you can listen to below.

The band also recently teamed up with Robyn Hitchcock for a BBC session for Marc Riley’s show on BBC 6music, and you can listen to that here.
