Third Man reissuing classic France Gall albums, throwing ye-ye parties (NYC, LA, Detroit, more)
Three classic albums by late '60s French yé-yé star France Gall -- Baby Pop, 1968 and Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son -- are being reissued by Third Man Records on February 21. These will be the albums' first-ever North American pressings and include many of her best-known songs, including groovy singles "Laisse tomber les filles," "Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son," "Baby Pop" and "Nefertiti" (all written by Serge Gainsbourg), "Sacré Charlemagne," ""Faut-il que je t'aime" and "L'Amérique." Listen to those, and watch an unboxing video for the reissues, below.
To celebrate the three reissues, Third Man is throwing release day parties on February 21 in Detroit, Nashville, Los Angeles, NYC and Montreal. The NYC party happens at new Ridgewood club TV Eye and will be part of Jonathan Toubin's Shakin' All Over Under Sideways Down party. That starts at 11 PM and details are here.
