Intronaut

Intronaut is about to get prehistoric on dat azz, when the new LP Prehistoricisms (full tracklisting below) hits the shelves on September 16th via their new label Century Media. Metalkult has a preview in the form of “Australopithecus” which is downloadable at their site. .IntronautTickets are still on sale for their show at Knitting Factory on August 8th with Behold The Arctopus, Mouth Of The Architect, Deadsea, and Wetnurse (one helluva bill). Mouth Of The Architect drops Quietly this week and Wetnurse drops Invisible City on September 30th. Deadsea‘s S/T record is out now, catch it at their myspace. “Prehistoricisms” album art there to the right.

I have heard from a very credible source that the mighty sunn 0))) will return to NYC to play a special show in celebration of the ten year anniversary of The Grimmrobe Demos. Um, yowsers. As details come in, you’ll get em.

Sweden’s Burst have posted two new tracks from and announced a release date for (September 16th in the US) their new record Lazarus Bird. Dig on “Cripple God” and “(We Watched) The Silver Rain” streaming at their myspace. The band has commented “Expect an album that will NOT be Origo Part 2, but something new”, and if this is any indication, should be a good ‘un.

Speaking of good ‘uns, the Bowery Ballroom show on July 25th featuring Early Man, Valient Thorr, and the mighty Monotonix should be a grand ole time. Wanna get in gratis? Email us at [email protected] (subject: Denim Vests) with your first & last name, and we’ll randomly pick two winners and drop ’em a pair of tickets each.

Lions Of Tsavo, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Akimbo, Obituary and more below…

Lions of Tsavo will drop their highly anticipated new LP Firelung at the end of July (presale is here) but you can pick up the underrated and almost-as-awesome-but-too-short EP Tsunamicron (out now via iTunes and on their label’s website). We have the uber-heavy “Hooven Swarm” (from Firelung) as well as “Body Drift” (from Tsunamicron) available for download above. In addition, the boys are also streaming two Firelung songs and two Tsunamicron songs at their myspace, not to mention the video for “Firelung” below.

Lions Of Tsavo – “Firelung” Live @ Red-Eyed Fly 4/28/08

So if you were wondering what Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer has been doing in between psuedo-film soundtracks and working on every god-forsaken heavy record that Kurt Ballou ISNT doing, here’s your answer. The 100000000000 BPM grind machine, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, have a new album on the way and althugh the title hasn’t been settled yet, we do know that it’s NOT titled Druggernaut Jug Fuck (let me explain). The grinders also have three splits coming up with Crom, Insect Warfare, and The Endless Blockade. Meanwhile, Crom‘s Hot Sumerian Nights is available on vinyl (with the first 100 orders gets their copy on “Balls Deep Gold Wax”), and the boys have announced am east coast tour in September including two dates in NYC! The dates are still in clay, but we have ’em below.

Kylesa are headed back to the studio today! Look for the new record to drop in 2009 (their first since Time Will Fuse It’s Worth in 2006) with Philip Cope (guitars/vocals) taking the production seat. In the meantime, the band will hit the road on their first tour of Japan, playing with amazing locals like Coffins and Birushanah along the way. Kylesa will also drop a limited edition Japanese version of Time Will Fuse It’s Worth, complete with a new shirt designed by John Baizley (Baroness) and a sticker by Santos over at Red Cobalt Industries.

The previously mentioned Watain and Withered show at Jaxx in Springfield, VA on Halloween night wasn’t a one off, as they have announced a full scale black metal assault on North America with Book Of Black Earth including one show at the Knitting Factory on Oct 8th with Krallice. Ticket info isnt available, but when it is, you’ll be the first to know. Tour dates are below. Book Of Black Earth will drop Horoskopus this October on Prosthetic Records, Krallice dropped their self-titled record at Profound Lore. while Withered is still riding high off of the mighty Folie Circulaire released last month. Watain dropped the awesome Sworn To The Dark late last year.

Akimbo has announced the official release date for their Neurot debut Jersey Shores, September 23rd, as well as a few dates including TWO dates for NYC! akimbo will play the Knitting Factory on Oct 23rd and a Todd P party on Oct 25th in Brooklyn. The band will also celebrate their 10th anniversary with Harvestman (a Steve Von Till project) & Helms Alee (mems of Harkonen, These Arms Are Snakes). Helms Alee have their new album, Night Terror, on the way as well, due August 5th on Hydra Head and on vinyl for Robotic Empire.

Burning Skies – “Rounding Up The Cattle”

Obituary has announced a new EP, Left To Die, scheduled for release on September 16th. Look for two new tracks, one re-recording of “Slowly We Rot”, and a cover of “Dethroned Emperior” by Celtic Frost. The boys are scheduled to tour the US this fall with Unleashed as previously announced, including Oct 5th at BB Kings (still on sale).

Mastodon sat with Headbangers Blog, revealing that the new album isn’t about Grigori Rasputin at all. Hear what he has to say in the Headbangers Blog podcast, downloadable here. In other Mastodon news, the ORIGINAL Paul Romano artwork for Remission is up for bids on ebay!

Enslaved have announced a new album, Vertebrae, due in September via their new home Indie Recordings. Look for a European tour with Stonegard and Krakow following the release.

Capricorns have announced their new album River, Bear Your Bones on Lee Dorrian‘s Rise Above on July 28th in the UK. No word yet on a domestic release date, but you can preview “Seventh Child of A Seventh Child” at their myspace.

Grave – “Bloodpath”

Crust-punk legends Amebix, who we announced would be reforming, have dropped a preview of their upcoming DVD, and it looks fantastic. Check it out here and pre-order the DVD here. Another set of crust punk legends, Discharge has announced a new album, Desensitise, to be released in August, and a European tour to follow. Tour dates are below.

LA’s Ancestors have announced the release of their debut LP Neptune With Fire and are streaming segments of it over at their myspace (the whole thing is due 8/19). The LP will limited to 300 copies on translucent gold. Ancestors will be playing one date (9/7 at the Echoplex) with Witch, Graveyard, and Earthless which is part of a short Witch/Earthless West Coast tour. Tour dates are below.

Children Of Bodom and Between The Buried And Me have teamed up for a four week tour including a single date at Hammerstein Ballroom with The Black Dahlia Murder (who are rumored to be doing the entire tour as well). Tickets are on sale. BTBAM are currently getting ready for a new DVD which will be shot on August 2nd in Nashville. Children Of Bodom guitarist Roope Latvala has a guest appearance on the new Amon Amarth record, Twilight of the Thunder God, along with L.G. Petrov (Entombed) and Apocalyptica.

PUNISHMENT DUE:
Lustmord[Other]: Frightening dark ambient soundscapes. Other is other-worldly. Recommended
Fuck The FactsDisgorge Mexico: Destructive, experimental and ultimately one bad ass grind-metal record. Recommended.
US ChristmasEat The Low Dogs: A dark, psychedelic, sludgy trip through the deep south.
Mouth Of The ArchitectQuietly: Post-metal thunder in the vein of Neurosis, earlier Isis, or Cult Of Luna. Quietly won’t win any new fans, but genre fans will be pleased.
