Mizmor Thou

Thou and Mizmor surprise-release collaborative album 'Myopia' (listen)

Thou and Mizmor recently teamed with Emma Ruth Rundle for a black/sludge metal cover of Zola Jesus’ “Night” for Sacred Bones’ upcoming covers compilation, and today they surprise-released a collaborative album, Myopia, ahead of the collaborative set that they’re playing at Roadburn today.

Thou and Mizmor collaborating makes sense, but “Prefect'”s opening notes show that we’re in for a different sort of ride. Featuring lengthy black metal passages amidst equally as sprawling doom, the mammoth Myopia is a not so much a balancing act as it is a complete meshing of these two bands’ distinct styles. Myopia is out now on Gilead Media. and you can listen to the whole thing below and pick up a physical copy here.

Thou are also headlining the BrooklynVegan showcase at Austin music festival Oblivion Access on May 13 at Valhalla with -(16)-, Dorthia Cottrell (of Windhand), Jarhead Fertilizer, Body Void, and Vile Creature. Tickets are on sale now.

Speaking of Vile Creature and Roadburn collabs, Vile Creature and Bismuth just debuted their 40-minute collaboration A Hymn of Loss and Hope at Roadburn yesterday and released the studio version too.
