throat singer Tanya Tagaq won the 2014 Polaris Music Prize
Last night (9/22), the winner of Canada’s Polaris Music Prize was announced during the 4-hour gala (full video below), and the prize went to throat singer Tanya Tagaq for her album Animism. She beat out Arcade Fire, Drake, Mac DeMarco, Chromeo, Tim Hecker, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, Timber Timbre, Shad, Jessy Lanza, and Basia Bulat.
