Thundercat is on tour now in support of his new album Drunk and that tour hit NYC on Friday night (3/3) at Irving Plaza. Like at other stops of the tour, the show was opened by two of Thundercat's comedic pals: Diplo fighter Zack Fox and Hannibal Buress. Irving had some other very exciting guests show up too.

The main talk of the night was the surprise appearance by Dave Chappelle, who plays his own NYC show tonight, March 5 (and has three Netflix specials coming). On stage at the same time as Chappelle was jazz/hip hop great Robert Glasper. Speaking about Glasper and Thundercat, Chappelle said:

Ladies and gentlemen: on stage tonight is the musical virtuosos. They spent hours and hours of their life practicing their craft, and tonight we get to enjoy the sum total of their work. Make some noise for your band.

Pitchfork adds that Chappelle wrapped things up saying, "Thundercat, take this bass solo wherever you wanna go, 'cause we with you all the way, my brother, for real."

Also in the house was Thundercat's label boss and frequent collaborator Flying Lotus, who also just joined Thundercat on Hannibal Buress' "Handsome Rambler" podcast. They discussed FlyLo's controversial film, Kuso, which Hannibal Buress appears in, and more.

Listen to that podcast, and check out some video clips of the Irving Plaza show, below. Pictures of the Irving show are in the gallery above.
