Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore has shared a new track, “Strawberry Moon,” via his bandcamp. He calls the nine-minute instrumental, which he recorded this week, “a new piece for new peace” and “a celebration of the strawberry ( full ) moon vibrations – free energy for change.” Written for three guitars, “Strawberry Moon” pulses on a droney groove and you can stream it below.

Thurston has kept his Bandcamp active, lately, having posted previously unreleased acoustic song “The Lords and the Ladies” back in May, and more. Likewise, Sonic Youth have been adding rarities regularly on its Bandcamp, most recently the Hold That Tiger semi-official bootleg. Lee Ranaldo has too.

In other news, Sonic Youth also have COVID-19 ‘Sonic Nurse’ masks and t-shirts, and their video for “Making the Nature Scene” is part of the Allen Ginsberg online film festival on Saturday, June 6.
