Tim Barry Roads to Richmond

Tim Barry (of AVAIL) releasing new solo album 'The Roads To Richmond'

Not only have AVAIL finally returned from a 12-year hiatus, frontman Tim Barry is staying active as a solo artist too and has a new album, The Roads To Richmond, coming October 11 via The Bouncing Souls’ Chunksaah Records. He recorded it with past collaborator Lance Koehler, and a press releases notes, “there were no demos, and there was no map for what the album would look like when he was finished. He had 40 songs, and he recorded as many of them as he could, only letting the very best of them surface here on The Roads To Richmond.”

“This record is pretty harsh, in a lot of ways,” Tim adds. “Many of the songs that are first-person on this record, the ones that seem really miserable, were written as those things were happening. When you go through a really dark spot, it really is just a matter of time before you gain perspective and things aren’t so dark. But to capture the moments in those dark spots is really remarkable.”

No music is out from the album yet, but stay tuned. That’s the artwork above and you can check out the tracklist below.

Tim has two hometown record release shows in November, and before that he’s playing Muddy Roots Festival (which AVAIL also plays) and The Fest. 2020 tour dates TBA soon.

AVAIL’s schedule also includes Riot Fest, Riot Fest Aftershows, and Philly, NYC, and Boston shows with Angel Du$t.

Watch video of Tim playing a new song — which seems like it’s probably album opener “Big Ships” — live earlier this year in Lancaster:
