Tinariwen / Antlers
The Daniel Lanois and ANTI- Records co-curated ANTI-Thesis show went down this past Monday (11/10) at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, bringing together artists from entirely different musical backgrounds. Lanois himself performed, as well as Malian Tishoumaren band Tinariwen, atmospheric pop heroes The Antlers and cult artist Lonnie Holley. The show went late (ended around 1 AM) and ended with Lonnie, Lanois and The Antlers all joining Tinariwen on stage. Pictures from the night are in this post.
Lanois is fresh of the release of his latest album, Flesh and Machine, and is currently out on tour with Lonnie Holley in support of it. Monday's show was the first US date of the tour, which hits several East Coast cities throughout November. Updated dates are listed below.
Before the show, the bands did some remixing of one another. The Antlers' frontman Peter Silberman remixed Tinariwen's "Toumast Tincha," which we posted HERE, and Lanois put out his takes on both The Antlers' "Doppelganger" and Tinariwen's "Adounia Ti Chidjret."
Streams of both of Lanois' remixes, a video of his set, more pictures from the show and tour dates, below...
