Tiny Moving Parts

Tiny Moving Parts releasing 'Swell' next week (hear "Warm Hand Splash")

Emo/math rock/post-hardcore blenders Tiny Moving Parts are following 2016’s Celebrate with new album Swell next week (1/26) via Triple Crown (pre-order). Ahead of its release, we’re premiering a new song from the album, “Warm Hand Splash.” Singer/guitarist Dylan Mattheisen tells us, “‘Warm Hand Splash’ is about having someone special get taken away from you. I used an analogy of being a piece of trash at the bottom of a wishing well, who adores a coin that eventually someone steals from the water. With an important piece of your life missing, you’re trying your best to cope with it.” Musically, the song is less frantic than some of the band’s earlier, highly mathy material, and a bit more pop-oriented (in a good way). They change things up a lot over the course of the four-minute song, and work in hints of Touche Amore, self-titled blink-182, and an American Football-esque ending (trumpets included). Listen for yourself below.

Tiny Moving Parts will support the album on tour with Oso Oso and recent SideOneDummy signees Mom Jeans. The tour hits Brooklyn on February 9 at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). All dates are listed below.
