TMZ, meanwhile, who reported that Petty had been pulled off life support earlier in the day, reported as of 1:35 PM Pacific, that he was still “clinging to life,” though their sources said that a chaplain had been called to his hospital room and that he was not expected to live through the day. There has still been no official statement from anyone.
Petty had just wrapped up his 40th anniversary tour with The Heartbreakers.
