Melodic sludge greats Torche spilled the beans about their anticipated new album earlier this year, and now it's officially announced. It's called Admission, and due July 12 via Relapse (pre-order). "This album is more revealing of who we are. I think the core of the band is happier and more inspired than we have been in some time, and we’ve got somebody new who’s excited to be a part of it. It’s just refreshing. It feels right. It feels real," says guitarist/producer Jon Nuñez, referring to new bass player Eric Hernandez of Wrong. Eric wrote the lead single, "Slide," which fits right in with Torche's usual vibe, and is a very promising taste of this new LP. Listen below.

Torche are playing Levitation, The Fest, Sled Island, and a few other festivals, and they've also announced a headlining tour.

The tour includes a NYC show on August 2 at Brooklyn Bazaar. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (5/17) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.

Earlier this year, we included Torche's cover of "In Bloom" in a list of 15 great covers of Nirvana songs and Torche's Harmonicraft in a list of 10 albums from this decade that ’90s grunge fans need to hear.
