Toronto duo Twist are musician Laura Hermiston and Holy Fuck's Brian Borcherdt, formed two years or so ago. Laura writes the songs, which have a '60s/'70s folk-rock vibe, and Borcherdt adds just enough grit in the production. It's certainly in the Mazzy Star system. Twist's new single, "Albequerque" is out next week and you can listen to it, plus check out a couple other songs and videos, below.

Twist will be crossing the Canadian border this weekend for a few Northeast shows, including two in NYC: Baby's All Right on Sunday (3/1) with LA band Corners, Brooklyn's Roya and DJ Alix Brown, and then Shea Stadium on March 6 with Your 33 Black Angels, Wild Bore, and Moon Tower. In between those two NYC shows, Twist will hit Boston on March 3, venue still TBA.
