Mackenzie Scott aka Torres released her new album Silver Tongue on Friday (1/31), and she celebrated it with a sold-out release show at the Sultan Room at The Turk's Inn in Bushwick that same night. It's her fourth album overall and first for Merge, and label co-founder Mac McCaughan of Superchunk was in attendance.

Torres openly expressed her nervousness, stating it was her first time performing the new material live in front of an audience, and the sold-out room gave her plenty of reassurances, which made her smile. Backed by a band of three, she performed the new album front-to-back, with no additional songs or encore, telling the audience that they'd have to go to her show at the Bowery Ballroom on May 28 (tickets) to hear her older material. By the end of the set, she had declared the crowd one of the best she had ever played in front of, and that it was be a night for her to remember happily.

Before performing her set, Torres came out on stage to introduce her support act for the show, comedian Meg Stalter, who Torres had asked to open upon become obsessed with her videos.
