BEYONCE & JAY-Z

Power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z begin the North American leg of their “On the Run II” tour TONIGHT (7/25) in Cleveland. While they were in the midst of the European leg, they dropped their excellent collaborative album Everything Is Love, and these will be their first North American shows behind that album. The tour hits the NYC-area on August 2 & 3 at MetLife Stadium. All dates and tickets (if available) here. Watch them play “Apeshit” live:

FRANKIE VALLI & THE FOUR SEASONS

Pop legend Frankie Valli often plays casinos these days (like the two Atlantic City casino shows he has this weekend), but he just announced that he’ll play NYC’s historic Radio City Music Hall for the first time in 30 years, on October 12 (tickets). He also has several other upcoming dates in other cities, all of which are listed here.

ALICE BAG

Since we last spoke, cult punk hero Alice Bag (of The Bags) has expanded her tour behind her new solo album Blueprint (which acme out earlier this year on Don Giovanni). In addition to her previously announced NYC show happening 8/10 at Mercury Lounge with Full Bush, she’s got another at Brooklyn’s Our Wicked Lady on 8/7 with Choked Up and Ratas En Zelo. EXEK (W/ EXPLODED VIEW & OH SEES)

Melbourne’s EXEK, which began as a solo project for Albert Wolski (Slug Guts) before growing into a proper band, have a dark-n-dubby aesthetic, recalling Metal Box-era PiL, The Pop Group and This Heat, and have a bleakly humorous worldview not dissimilar to The Intelligence and Spray Paint. They’ve got a new LP out on Superior Viaduct and will tour the U.S. after their appearance at Gonerfest. including dates with Exploded View and an L.A. show with Oh Sees. They’ve got two NYC shows lineup up on October 10 & 12. Details on some dates is still TBA but confirmed shows are listed here.

SOUND OF CERES

Sound of Ceres release an alternate version of last year’s The Twin this week, which shows what the record sounded like before they rerecorded the whole thing with Sigur Ros collaborator Alex Somers. They’ll be on tour with Beach House soon, and have a Brooklyn residency lineup up for September.

MOLLY BURCH

Austin musician Molly Burch, who has been compared to everyone from Patsy Cline to Brill Building song-masters to Hope Sandoval, is back with her second album for Captured Tracks, titled First Flower, that will be out October 5. You can watch the video for first single “Wild” below. She’s also just announced a fall North American tour that kicks off September 7 in Raleigh, NC and wraps up November 5 in Denver. In between she’ll play Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on October 13. Head here for all dates and tickets.

SYLVAN LACUE

In addition to hitting the road with Michael Christmas, Miami rapper Sylvan LaCue is going on a headlining tour supporting this year’s Apologies In Advance. All dates for the “Apologies In Advance Tour” are getting announced very soon, but some popped up early, including Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on October 3 with Khary, GRIP, and Treazon. More dates here.

TTNG

British math rockers TTNG (fka This Town Needs Guns) are reuniting with their original vocalist to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Animals with an acoustic re-working of the album and a tour playing the album in full.

COLTER WALL

Canadian country singer Colter Wall continues to rapidly rise, and he just announced a fall tour, including some of his biggest shows yet.

THE BLUEBERRY TOUR (JOE PERA, JO FIRESTONE, CONNER O’MALLEY, DAN LICATA)

Joe Pera, the comedian behind the great Adult Swim show Joe Pera Talks with You, is going on “The Blueberry Tour” (he likes seasonal fruit) in August with some of the other show writers, producers and stars, specifically Jo Firestone, Conner O’Malley and Dan Licata.
