Arctic Monkeys keep expanding their tour supporting the upcoming Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, their first album in five years. They've now added a New York show happening 7/25 at CMAC with Mini Mansions (the band led by Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, whose album features Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner). That's in addition to a sold-out Forest Hills Stadium show, and many other shows. All dates and tickets HERE.
SOCCER MOMMY opening for STEPHEN MALKMUS & THE JICKS
Soccer Mommy continues to add shows opening for super cool artists. In addition to their dates with Paramore, Liz Phair, and Speedy Ortiz, she's now opening a West Coast/Southwest run on Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks' tour. All dates they have together are HERE.
MS. LAURYN HILL
Ms. Lauryn Hill will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her classic debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, by playing it in full on tour. Dates include NYC-area shows at Jones Beach on July 15, and PNC Bank Arts Center on August 8, both with a BrooklynVegan presale on Thursday (4/19).
Big Thief continue to expand their tour, which is in support of their great 2017 album Capacity and also has been including some great new songs.
Blood Orange is slowly expanding his tour schedule, which now includes his first headlining NYC show in two years.
Brooklyn's SAVAK, which includes former members of Obits, Nation of Ulysses and more, are currently working on their third album but are even more currently playing a few shows with The Messthetics -- the band featuring Fugazi's rhythm section [Brendan Canty and Joe Lally] and experimental/jazz guitarist Anthony Pirog -- and psych-jazz group Sunwatchers. Dates include Brooklyn's The Bell House on Friday (4/20, tickets). After that, they'll be touring the UK in May with Nottingham's Grey Hairs. All dates and ticket links are here.
MARC RIBOT'S CERAMIC DOG
Guitarist Marc Ribot, who has played with everyone from Elvis Costello to Tom Waits and John Zorn, is prepping a new record with his band Ceramic Dog (that includes Secret Chiefs 3 members Shahzad Ismaily and Ches Smith). They'll be on tour in Europe starting this weekend and have record release shows in NYC and New Haven, CT in May.
Having recently performed at a White Castle in Bushwick, Ghostface Killah is going on a more proper tour, which includes a newly-added Connecticut show and more.
THE JESUS LIZARD
The Jesus Lizard reunited last year and it was as awesome as you'd expect. They're keeping it going with more dates announced for 2018.
Shouty UK punks IDLES, who impressed a lot of people at SXSW with their wild and sweaty live show, are back in the UK touring but are coming back to the US this fall, including shows in NYC, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Ex Hex, the current band from onetime Helium frontwoman Mary Timony, are working on LP #2 and will be testing out new music on tour in September, including a show at Asbury Lanes.
Sunny Day Real Estate frontman Jeremy Enigk started playing shows again in 2015 after a hiatus from his solo career, and he just announced his most major tour since then. It's celebrating the expanded reissue of his classic solo debut Return of the Frog Queen.
NEKO CASE / THAO (OF THE GET DOWN STAY DOWN)
Neko Case has added more dates supporting her upcoming album Hell-On. The new dates are with Thao.
