tours announced: Bonnaroo “Ready to Roo,” Slackers, The Field, more
The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.
Winnipeg melodic hardcore staples Comeback Kid are playing a one-off show in NYC at The Kingsland on May 15. It's their only North American date currently scheduled but they do have European dates both before and after the NYC show.
THE BLACK KEYS / MODEST MOUSE
While we think they could've come up with a better tour name than "Ready to Rock," seeing The Back Keys and Modest Mouse on one bill (sometimes with Shannon & The Clams, too) is appealing.
Axel Willner is bringing his electronic alter ego, The Field, to the U.S. for Moogfest next month and he'll be stopping in Brooklyn on the way, playing Baby's All Right on April 27. Those are the only U.S. dates we've seen.
YO LA TENGO
While in that netherworld between albums and Hanukkah shows, Yo La Tengo do have a few live dates on tap for 2019: opening for Trey Anastasio in Los Angeles and playing the Asbury Park Music & Film Festival in April, Evanston, IL's Out of Space series in June, and they'll also play Belle & Sebastian's Boaty Weekender and UK fest Green Man in August. All dates are here.
THE FEELIES (AND RELATED PROJECTS)
The Feelies are playing three nights at Brooklyn's Rough Trade in May and will be at Wilco's Solid Sound festival in June, but members of the band also have shows coming up. Frontman Glenn Mercer plays The Loft at City Winery on Friday, March 15 with The Bongos' Richard Barone where they'll be doing a covers set celebrating the post-Velvets scene of Bowie, T-Rex, The Stooges, Television, Brian Eno and more. Members of The Feelies and Bongos will be joining them too. Then Yung Wu, which is The Feelies but with percussionist Dave Weckerman fronting the group, will be playing a very rare set opening for Yo La Tengo at the Asbury Park Music and Film Festival.
Long-running NYC ska band The Slackers will be on tour in April, including shows in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Miami, Albany, Buffalo, Toronto and more. They've also just announced a hometown show, playing a Rocks Off Concert Cruise aboard The Liberty Belle on August 16. All dates are here.
BONNAROO "READY TO ROO" TOUR
To hype up this year's Bonnaroo festival, organizers are launching the Ready to Roo tour which will stop in 14 cities across the US with 35 pop-up events created to "bring the spirit of the festival to the hometowns of fans and those interested in learning more about the Bonnaroo experience." Cities include Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Tampa, Charlotte, Orlando, Birmingham, Indianapolis, Chattanooga, Columbus, DC, Jacksonville, Knoxville, and Louisville. More details and dates are here.
NICK MASON's SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS (BRIT FLOYD TOO)
Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets are on tour now, bringing audiences a set of strictly early Pink Floyd material. If you need more, Brit Floyd are also on tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Wall. All dates for both are here.
FIRE! (MATS GUSTAFSSON)
Fire!, the Swedish power trio led by Mats Gustafsson, mix jazz, punk, psych and metal into one powerful sound -- they'll tour the U.S. after playing Knoxville's Big Ears festival.
