tours announced: FIDLAR/Dilly Dally, Rina Sawayama, The Octopus Project, more

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

FIDLAR/DILLY DALLY

Wild LA poppy punks FIDLAR recently released new single “Alcohol,” and the band have just announced a fall tour which will have them out with Canadians Dilly Dally. Dates include a NYC show at Terminal 5 on September 15. Their website has all dates and ticket links.

SOB X RBE

SOB x RBE are one of the year’s most exciting and fastest-rising rap groups, and they just announced an extensive tour, including some larger venues than they played earlier this year.

THE OCTOPUS PROJECT / BOTANY

Austin indie/electronic vets The Octopus Project are hitting the road this summer in continued support of last year’s Memory Mirror, including a run with Botany (that hits Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on 7/14). All dates HERE.

CONTROL TOP

Philly band Control Top, who pull from both ’90s Riot Grrrl and ’90s indie rock, just finished opening some shows for Speedy Ortiz in Texas. Now back home they’ve got three more hometown Philly shows on the horizon this summer (one with Hit Bargain), plus a Brooklyn show at Saint Vitus on 6/28 with Lovelorn, Russian Baths, and Kindling (tickets). All dates are here.

RINA SAWAYAMA

Last year, Japan-born and London-based singer Rina Sawayama released her debut EP Rina, which sounds like all different types of ’90s pop (Mariah, Britney, Aaliyah, The Cardigans, and more) and a little modern R&B in a blender. She now announced a short North American tour for September, beginning with two NYC shows (9/12 at Elsewhere and 9/13 at Bowery Ballroom), followed by Chicago, Toronto, LA, and San Francisco. All dates here. Along with the announcement, she released a video for “Ordinary Superstar” from the Rina EP. Watch:

THRICE

The back-in-action Thrice signed to Epitaph, released a crushing new song, and announced a tour with The Bronx for this fall. Much sooner than that, they play Long Island festival Great South Bay Fest with The Get Up Kids, The Front Bottoms, and more.

REVOCATION / EXHUMED / RIVERS OF NIHIL / YAUTJA

This beastly-quadruple bill of death metal (or death metal-ish) bands hits the road this fall, stopping at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge and other cities like Philly, Boston, Austin, Atlanta, Phoenix, Chicago, and more. All dates (and ticket links for most dates) here.

SOPHIE

Electronic pop artist SOPHIE’s debut album will be out next week (6/15), and she’s touring, including a stop at NYC’s inaugural queer music festival LadyLand.

SAINT ETIENNE

Decidedly British trio Saint Etienne are doing something unusual, planning a special tour almost exclusively for North America: they’ll be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Good Humor (their best-selling record over here) by playing it in full, along with a second set of songs from songs from the rest of their catalog.

THE BYRDS ROGER MCGUINN & CHRIS HILLMAN

Speaking of playing classic albums, The Byrds’ Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their country rock classic, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, by playing it in full on tour. They’ll be telling stories about making it, too. There are only five dates at the moment, but more are promised.

KHRUANGBIN

Texas instrumentalists Khruanghin have a new video for “Como Me Quieres” which is off their recent LP, Con Todo El Mundo. Watch that below. The band are soon to be on tour with Leon Bridges, a trek which concludes with two shows at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall. They’ve just added some European dates right after ACL fest in Austin, and you can check out their whole upcoming schedule to see if they’re hitting a city near you.

IDLES

Raucous UK band IDLES, who were a hit at SXSW this year, will release their second album later this year and have expanded their North American tour.

KING KHAN & THE SHRINES

Garage soul great King Khan will be hitting the road with The Shrines, and taking Aussie Gabriella Cohen with him.

REIGNING SOUND

Speaking of garage soul, North Carolina’s Reigning Sound will be visiting the Northeast later this month, hitting Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on July 21 to play Jonathan Toubin’s Soul Clap & Dance Off Party (tickets) and then Philadelphia’s Johnny Brenda’s on July 22 (tickets).

MINISTRY / CARPENTER BRUT / IGORRR

Industrial vets Ministry are hitting the road again behind this year’s AmeriKKKant and taking two solid openers with them.

NOTHING / SWIRLIES

Modern-day shoegazers and OG shoegazers Swirlies are touring together (and both bands have other dates separately too).

TITUS ANDRONICUS

Before Titus Andronicus head to the UK/EU for an “acoustic” tour, they do a film screening/Q&A in Brooklyn and full-band shows in New Jersey and Long Island. More info here.

WILD NOTHING

Wild Nothing are back with a new album in August and a tour after that.
