KEVIN MORBY

Still out promoting last year’s City Music, Kevin Morby’s spring tour is underway and hits Los Angeles tonight and Saturday, and will hit NYC later this month for two sold-out shows at Bowery Ballroom. If you’re going, do get there early to catch Hand Habits (aka Meg Duffy who is Kevin’s lead guitarist and all-around secret weapon) who is excellent live as well. Dates and tickets are here.

BAMBARA

Brooklyn’s swaggering, gothy Bambara just released their terrific new album, Shadow on Everything, today and will be celebrating with a release show at Brooklyn’s Alphaville on April 13. They’re also going to be bringing their intense, voluminous live show on tour starting in May. All tour dates, which include a couple more NYC shows, are here.

JOHNNY MARR

The onetime Smiths guitarist just announced his third solo album, Call the Comet, will be out in June and leading up to it he’ll head out on a 12-date tour that includes four North American shows (NYC at Gramercy Theatre on May 31). If you want tickets to any of the shows on this side of the Atlantic, you need to sign up with Verified Fan by the end of Sunday, April 15. As exciting as this is, this casts some doubt on Johnny being part of The The’s band this fall.

SLOAN

Canadian alt-rock royalty Sloan just released their 12th album today, another winner from a band that’s kept the same lineup (where all four members write and sing) for their entire 25+ year run. The band are celebrating tonight in Toronto and they’ll dip below the U.S. border later this month, and will hit NYC at Bowery Ballroom on May 10. Find all dates are tickets here. Stream 12 here:
