MADISON MCFERRIN

Promising a cappella newcomer Madison McFerrin (daughter of a cappella legend Bobby McFerrin) is doing a residency at C’mon Everybody in Brooklyn this month (with shows every Wednesday), followed by festivals and shows in Toronto, Chicago, the Netherlands, and more. GOVERNORS BALL

The 2019 Governors Ball lineup has been announced. Headliners are The Strokes, Florence + the Machine, and Tyler the Creator, and other acts include The 1975, Kacey Musgraves, Nas, SZA, Lil Wayne, Brockhampton, Vince Staples, Blood Orange, Mitski, and more.

BOTTLEROCK NAPA VALLEY

The Bottlerock Napa Valley festival goes down May 24-26, and the 2019 lineup is out. Neil Young (with Promise of the Real) is one of the headliners, and other acts include Santana, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Gary Clark Jr, Sylvan Esso, Lord Huron, Flogging Molly, Jenny Lewis, Big Boi, Cypress Hill, The Dandy Warhols, Against Me!, Gang of Youths, Shannon & the Clams, Jeff Goldblum & the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, The Soul Rebels, and more. CEREMONIA

Toluca, Mexico’s Ceremonia festival happens on April 6, 2019, at Centro Dinámico Pegaso, and the lineup is stacked. Massive Attack and Aphex Twin headline, and the festival also features sets from Rosalia, Kaytranada, Modeselektor, DJ Koze, Jon Hopkins, Yaeji, Pussy Riot, serpentwithfeet, and more. CLAN OF XYMOX

Gothy synthpop vets Clan of Xymox, who just reissued their 1989 album Twist of Shadows, will be back in North America this spring, including NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on March 23. Other dates include Denver, Omaha, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, DC and more.

MARTIN FRAWLEY (TWERPS)

Cofounder of Australia’s Twerps, Martin Frawley will be releasing his first solo album in February via Merge. (Check out the video for first single “Chain Reaction” below.) To celebrate, Martin’s got release shows in Brooklyn (February 22 @ Union Pool) and Los Angeles (March 1 @ Bootleg Theatre) — tickets for both are on sale now. He’s got some Australian dates, too. SUSS

“Ambient country” group SUSS, which includes members of ’80s group Rubber Rodeo, don’t play live very often, but NYC will get a chance to see them on February 15 at Mercury Lounge. It’s currently their only scheduled show.

YNW MELLY

YNW Melly, who is rumored to be contributing to the upcoming Kanye album, also has his own new project We All Shine due out on January 18. He also announced a tour supporting the project, which kicks off in Atlanta on 1/27, wraps up in his home state of Florida in late February, and hits LA, NYC (2/11 at SOB’s), and more in between. ROYAL TRUX

Scuzz rock duo Royal Trux just announced they’ll be releasing their first new studio album in nearly 20 years in March, and their 2019 North American tour starts a couple weeks before the LP drops. Dates include Philly, NYC, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
