MONICA / ASHANTI / AMERIE / etc
A rotating all-female lineup of veteran R&B hitmakers are coming together for a few Femme It Forward-presented shows, including a just-announced show with Monica, Ashanti, Amerie, Keri Hilson and Lil' Mo at Brooklyn's Kings Theatre on New Year's Eve (tix on sale 9/20 at 10 AM with presales beforehand). That same lineup also plays Petersburg, VA on 10/11 and Philly on 1/3/20. There's also a Femme It Forward show in Irving, TX on 10/17 with Monica, her "The Boy Is Mine" collaborator Brandy, Mya, and Keri Hilson. Ashanti also has other dates, including at least one with her former hitmaking partner in crime Ja Rule, and those are listed here.
DOWNTOWN BOYS
Politically minded punks Downtown Boys have a few East Coast shows lined up for November, including Philly, Brooklyn (Union Pool on 11/10), Oberlyn, OH and DC. Before that, Downtown Boys will play the Fabric Arts Festival in Fall River, MA on September 28. All dates are here.
THIGH MASTER
Australian indie rock band Thigh Master, who recall a scrappier version of The Clean, will release their new album, Now For Example, next week via Goner and you can watch the video for "Mould Lines" below. They'll be in Memphis this month for Gonerfest and will tour extensively around it, starting this Thursday (9/19) in San Francisco, with shows in Oakland, L.A., Austin, Louisville, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Philly New Haven, Brooklyn (Union Pool on 10/15 with Free Time and Hamish Kilgour of The Clean) and more. LIGHTNING BOLT
Lightning Bolt‘s new album, Sonic Citadel, will be out in October and they’ve just announced a short Northeast tour in support of it at the end of fall.
SCHOOLBOY Q / NAV
Schoolboy Q will support his new album Crash Talk on tour with Nav this fall.
A BOWIE CELEBRATION
Several former members of David Bowie's bands -- plus guest vocalists Corey Glover, Mr. Hudson, and Evan Rachel Wood -- will take 'A Bowie Celebration' on tour again in 2020, including a North American run where they'll play Diamond Dogs/Ziggy Stardust sets.
THE HARD TIMES
Punk satire site The Hard Times are putting out a book and going on a book tour, and there's also a release party in Brooklyn with sets from NYHC vets Killing Time and other bands.
GUNS N' ROSES
Guns N' Roses' fall tour starts soon, but first they're playing a relatively intimate LA show this weekend.
EVERY TIME I DIE
Every Time I Die revealed that they'll play 2003's classic Hot Damn! in full at night one of their three-night Rocks Off cruise run in NYC, and after that they have their annual holiday show in Buffalo and then a Europe/UK tour. All dates and more info here.
