MINUS THE BEAR
Minus the Bear begin their tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of Planet of Ice tonight. Ahead of the tour, the band made us a playlist of songs that influenced the decade-old album. Listen and see all dates HERE.
ARCTIC MONKEYS
Arctic Monkeys expanded their tour once again, including the addition of an intimate Brooklyn show happening two days before their new album comes out.
NIPSEY HUSSLE
LA rapper Nipsey Hussle recently released his great new album Victory Lap and now he's celebrating it by going on a victory lap around the US, hitting NYC, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Denver, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, and more. PETRA HADEN
That Dog's Petra Haden, who sings with everybody, has a busy spring ahead. She'll be playing and singing with Nancy & Beth (aka Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt) which includes NYC shows at Cafe Carlyle, and she's also performing at NYC's Rockwood Music Hall on May 23 as part of "Songs for Petra" which features music by John Zorn, lyrics by Jesse Harris and she'll be backed by the Julian Lage Trio. Tickets for that are on sale.
BLONDE REDHEAD / RAFIQ BHATIA
Blonde Redhead's only upcoming show at the moment is in NYC as part of Le Poisson Rouge's 10th anniversary series. Since we last spoke, they added opener Rafiq Bhatia (who just released a new album on ANTI-). Rafiq will be backed by frequent collaborator Ian Chang. Tickets are still available.
THE VOIDZ
Julian Casablancas' other band, The Voidz, just released Virtue and have now announced a mostly East Coast tour that surrounds their Brooklyn residency in June.
THE ESSEX GREEN
Baroque pop band The Essex Green, who are Elephant 6-related and are signed to Merge, will release their first album in 12 years this June and will tour in August.
THE MAGIC NUMBERS
UK group The Magic Numbers, who are best known in the U.S. for their 2005 debut album which had such songs as "Forever Lost and "Love's a Game," will release their fifth album, Outsiders, on May 11 via Park the Van. They're still making heartfelt guitar pop as you can hear on single "Sweet Divide" below. The band will play East Coast shows in July, including two in NYC: July 17 at Rough Trade and July 18 at Mercury Lounge. They'll also play Washington, DC, Philadelphia and the Boston area and tickets to all those shows go on sale Friday (4/20).
