PHONY PPL

After wrapping up a tour with Pusha T (which includes two nights at NYC's Irving Plaza next week), soulful hip hop group Phony Ppl will play a headlining show at NYC's Mercury Lounge on 12/28 (the Friday between Christmas and New Year's). LEE RANALDO

Having just appeared at the screening of the Daydream Nation concert film at Brooklyn's Alamo Drafthouse, Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo has a few NYC shows coming up. First, he'll be performing at the "Love Speech" benefit show at Murmrr Theater on 12/1, before a show with his Electric Trim Trio at Union Pool on 12/21. Lastly, he'll be appearing at Joseph Arthur's annual New Year's Day show at City Winery. Lee also has a new live album out next month.

CL SMOOTH

Legendary NY rapper CL Smooth, best known for his work with Pete Rock, is promising that his "They Reminisce Over You Tour" will be "going down nationwide in 2019." So far, he's only announced the NYC show happening 1/10 at SOB's with DJ Mell Starr, DJ Sinque, and Nine. Stay tuned for more dates.

BABY DEE

Transgender performance artist, multi-instrumentalist, classically trained harpist and onetime circus sideshow performer Baby Dee is retiring from playing live but still has shows in London and NYC before she's done.
