SWAMP DOGG

Cult R&B/soul musician Swamp Dogg’s last album was 2018’s Love, Loss and Auto-Tune, but he’s already announced plans for an upcoming country album, set to feature John Prine and past collaborator Justin Vernon (Bon Iver). While we wait for more news on that, he’ll be playing a pair of one-off dates this summer, including NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on 6/14, and Toronto’s The Rec Room on 6/13.

PHOSPHORESCENT

Phosphorescent recently expanded their 2019 tour behind last year’s very good C’est La Vie, and they’ve just added even more dates, including a new stop at 99 Scott Ave’s backyard venue “Open Air” in Brooklyn on 7/25, in addition to other stops in Indianapolis, Buffalo, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and many others. They’ve also got some festival appearances too, including Firefly later this month, Newport Folk Festival next month, and Outside Lands in August. Head here for all dates.

CLAN OF XYMOX (RESCHEDULED DATES)

Earlier this year, Clan of Xymox had to postpone their spring tour dates due to visa issues but now the band has revealed new, rescheduled US tour dates for November. The band stops in Denver, NYC (Le Poisson Rouge on 11/23), Toronto, Boston, Montreal, Chicago, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, and more. As the band previously stated, tickets purchased for the spring tour will be honored at these new shows. View all rescheduled dates here.

Paul Scheer, Jason Mantzoukas and June Diane Raphael’s popular bad movie podcast How Did This Get Made? is going on tour this summer, hitting Austin, L.A., Charleston,SC, Durham, NC, Richmond, DC, Philly, NYC (two shows at Beacon Theatre on July 24), Medford, MA, Montreal, Chicago, Berkeley, Portland, Seattle, and Toronto. DAVID NANCE BAND

Omaha’s David Nance makes powerhouse heartland rock, full of swagger and melody, riffs and hooks. (Attention fans of War on Drugs, Kurt Vile and Neil Young.) He’s got a few tour dates coming up, including Brooklyn’s Union Pool on Saturday (6/8), as well as shows in Cleveland (6/15) and Chicago (6/18) plus European dates this fall. PRESS PLAY MUSIC AND BOOK FAIR

Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works and magazine The Baffler are partnering to throw the first-annual “Press Play” music and book fair, which happens at the venue on 6/28. For the music portion, there’s live music from noise rockers Empath and Control Top (who both released solid albums in 2019), along with “a conversation on contemporary criticism” featuring panelists Jennifer Krasinski, A.S. Hamrah, Lucy Ives, Jonathon Sturgeon, and Kate Wagner. Aside from this event, Empath is touring the US with Mannequin Pussy in August, and Control Top has summer dates too, both headlining (including NYC’s Mercury Lounge) and opening for Ted Leo (including Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall in August).

SHEILA E

Famed percussionist and onetime Prince associate Sheila E, best known for hits “The Glamorous Life,” “A Love Bizarre,” and many others, is still very active on the road, and her upcoming tour dates include two NYC dates: Queens SummerStage on 6/23, and Sony Hall on 10/3. Other cities include Los Angeles, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Chicago, Edmonton, Atlanta, and tons more. All dates here

NICOLE YUN (ETERNAL SUMMERS)

Eternal Summers vocalist/guitarist Nicole Yun released her solid, Britpop-leaning debut solo LP Paper Suit today, which features contributions from Doug Gillard (Guided By Voices), Joe Boyd (ex-Cloud Nothings), and others. She has a previously-announced record release show at Brooklyn’s Alphaville on 6/13 (w/ Peel Dream Magazine and The Wrens’ Charles Bissell), but she’s added two more dates on the East Coast, hitting New Brunswick, NJ’s In The West on 6/14 (w/ The Natvral and Resounding No), and Philly’s The Barbary on 6/15 (w/ Folklore and Kevin Hairs). H2O / COMEBACK KID

New York melodic punk vets H2O are celebrating their 25th anniversary on tour this year, and they’ve added another leg of dates in September with Winnipeg melodic hardcore staples Comeback Kid.
