WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS

Scottish indie rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks are returning to the US in February for a tour that hits Hamden, Baltimore, Richmond, Athens, Gainesville, Nashville, Omaha, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Jersey City, and more. All dates here.

ADAM GREEN

Adam Green released Engine of Paradise earlier this year via Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records which is a return to the orch-pop of his mid-’00s work. He’ll be taking the album on tour in March, hitting Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Cleveland, Chicago, St. Paul, Moline, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle. DAUGHTER OF SWORDS / THE DEAD TONGUES

Daughter of Swords, the solo project of Mountain Man’s Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, just played two nights at NYC’s Beacon Theatre opening for and playing in the big-band version of Sylvan Esso (which included Mountain Man’s Amelia Meath and Molly Sarle), and she’s got dates in December with Joan Shelley. Following a January tour of the UK, Alexandra will take Daughter of Swords on a short U.S. tour in February with The Dead Tongues (Ryan Gustafson who has played in Hiss Golden Messenger and other groups). Dates include stops in Richmond, Charlottesville, Brooklyn (Rough Trade on 2/10), Allston, DC, Asheville, and Nashville. You can find her full tour schedule here.

STEVE GUNN, WILLIAM TYLER & MARY LATTIMORE

Indie guitar-slingers Steve Gunn and William Tyler will be on tour with harpist Mary Lattimore in March, hitting southern cities Atlanta, Gainesville, Miami, Jacksonville, Charlotte and Asheville before all appearing at Big Ears in Knoxville. Steve and William will do three nights at Brooklyn’s Union Pool before the tour.

YACHT

This year YACHT made Chain Tripping this year using AI technology to help write the songs (listen below). They’ll be playing it in full on tour in December, including dates in Phoenix, Albuquerque, Dallas, Houston, Austin, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Orlando, Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle. YACHT will be heading to Europe in early 2020 and will stop in NYC beforehand for a show at Rough Trade on January 18. EDM giant Zedd has tour dates coming up this year and next, including a two-night pre-New Year’s run at Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner on 12/29 & 12/30. All dates and tickets here.

Everything But the Girl’s Ben Watt will release his new solo album Storm Damage on January 31 and he’ll tour North America in the spring with his new “future-retro trio” who will hit DC, NYC, Boston, Toronto, Ann Arbor, Indianapolis, the Chicago area, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Two great modern-day crossover thrash bands, DC’s Red Death and Richmond’s Enforced, have announced a North American tour together for January.

The War On Drugs are doing their second annual Philly holiday shows in December.

THE COLOR FRED / FATES GOT A DRIVER

Former Taking Back Sunday members Fred Mascherino and Eddie Reyes’ bands The Color Fred and Fates Got A Driver are touring together, and Fred and Eddie will be doing their own version of ‘Emo Night’ with DJ sets and karaoke at the shows.
