Trevor Powers (Youth Lagoon) announces debut solo LP & tour, shares two songs

After retiring the Youth Lagoon moniker, Trevor Powers recently released his debut solo single, “Playwright,” and now he has announced his debut solo album and released two more songs. The album is called Mulberry Violence and it’s due on August 17 via Trevor’s own Baby Halo label (pre-order).

Of the two new songs, “Ache” is a lot more rhythmic and busy-sounding than “Playwright” but still shares its electronics-mimicking-an-orchestra approach, and “Plaster Saint” starts as a minimal, piano-based song with pitch-shifted vocals before turning into something much glitchier. All three songs are making this album look very promising and very different for Trevor. Listen below.

Trevor also announced a fall tour, including a Brooklyn show at National Sawdust on October 17. Tickets for that show will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.
