U.S. Girls share "New Age Thriller" video, on tour now (NYC shows this week w/ She-Devils)

Meg Remy’s project U.S. Girls released the video for “New Age Thriller” from last year’s great LP Half Free and it’s just as eerie as the song. It was directed by Meg’s father-in-law Ross Turnbull, featuring black and white footage, drawing inspiration from Jean-Luc Godard. Says Turnbull:

The song is unsettling and odd and for some reason, it brought to my mind Godard’s Alphaville, concerned as it is with a society that’s lost its capacity for love and empathy. I tried to emulate a little of his spirit in a couple of set-ups… I shot the demolition footage at Toronto’s Regent Park, an old public housing complex that’s being razed for replacement by condos.

As mentioned, U.S. Girls tour starts this week with two NYC shows, both with Montreal’s She-Devils: they’ll play Mercury Lounge on Thursday (5/12) also with Idiot Glee, and then Baby’s All Right on Friday (5/13) also with Bayonne. Tickets for both Mercury Lounge and Baby’s are still on sale.

U.S. Girls and She-Devils also play Hudson, NY’s Half Moon on Saturday, May 14. All dates are listed below.
