Unwed Sailor

Unwed Sailor releasing new album 'Look Alive' (watch the "Camino Real" video)

Unwed Sailor, the long-running Seattle post-rock band led by Johnathon Ford (who was also once in Pedro the Lion), returned in 2019 with Heavy Age, their first album in over a decade, and good news: you won’t have to wait that long for a followup. They’re already set to release a new album, Look Alive, on June 12 via Old Bear Records (pre-order).

We’ve got the premiere of lead single “Camino Real,” and like Heavy Age, it’s more of a driving “instrumental rock” song than the climactic build-up-y stuff you might expect when you hear the term “post-rock,” but it’s a mesmerizing song in its own way and it’s got no trouble keeping you hooked without lyrics. It comes with a video of the band playing in an empty white room with some psychedelic lights/visuals (directed by Charles Elmore and Johnathon Ford) and you can check that out below.

Unwed Sailor will celebrate the album’s release with a short run of shows in Chicago, NYC (Mercury Lounge on 6/1), Boston, and Philly. All dates are listed below.
