From the same low-fi Vancouver world that gave us Cindy Lee comes Whitney K. There's a ramshackle quality to his recordings that recall Beck's K Records days mixed with lonesome cowboy folk. (If you know and like Kelley Stoltz, you'll likely dig this too.) After a tape and a digital EP last year, Whitney K will release Goodnight via Maple Death. Opening cut "Swans" starts off as a VU-style drone but then a lovely, swaying song emerges out of it with his charmingly off-kilter vocals drawing you in. That song premieres in this post and you can stream it below.
