Vans ‘The Spirit of DIY’ punk events happening around the U.S. this month
You may not think of a big company like Vans when you hear the term "DIY" but that is the subject of their new brand campaign, which is called 'The Spirit of DIY,' and is inspired by the "thriving global community of musicians, artists, and fans that champion the idea of carving out your own path and not waiting for permission." To celebrate, Vans is presenting free "The Spirit of DIY" events happening in cities around the U.S., featuring punk/hardcore bands curated by those in the local scenes, plus art and more, this month. Shows in Philly, Boston and Detroit have already happened, and shows in Los Angeles, Oakland, New Orleans, Austin, Brooklyn, DC and Miami are still to come.
The Brooklyn event happens September 25 at Superchief Gallery with performances by L.O.T.I.O.N, Blu Anxxiety, Pinocchio, Ghula and Blair. It will also feature artists Cecelia Caldera (art & design show) and Marcus Pulvermacher (video show), plus food & drinks, and more. RSVP is not open yet for that but more info is here. Check out the dates and lineups, and a couple Vans DIY campaign videos, below.
Gouge Away, who play the L.A., Oakland and Miami "Spirit of DIY" events, are on tour with Lifetime this fall.
