Electronic musician Venetian Snares (real name Aaron Funk) and record producer Daniel Lanois have just announced a collaborative LP, appropriately titled Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois, and it's out May 4 via Timesig/Planet MU. The collaboration is a bit of an unlikely pairing, as Funk is primarily known for his unconventional, hard-hitting breakcore instrumentals, while Lanois is mostly known for his work alongside Brian Eno on U2's most popular records The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, and his production on Bob Dylan's late-era opus Time Out of Mind. Lanois has also released several ambient solo albums focusing on steel guitar. The upcoming album grew out of both artists sharing longtime mutual admiration of each other's work, and was recorded in a former Buddhist temple.

The two have shared the lead single from the record, titled "Mag11 P82," which features Lanois' solemn steel guitar, underneath Funk's harsh, confounding rhythms. It's a rather interesting listen, and you can stream it, and view the album's artwork and tracklist, below.

In addition to the album announcement, the pair will be appearing together for several tour dates. (You may have caught them together at Day for Night 2017.) There's only one North American date at the moment, at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge on June 14 which is in celebration of the venue's 10th anniversary. Tickets are on sale now. All dates are listed below.
