Videology closing at the end of October

Well this is very sad news. Williamsburg’s Videology will close on October 27. It began as video store in December 2003, and morphed into a bar/cinema/video store in 2012. They announced via Facebook this morning:

After almost 15 amazing years, Videology will be closing its doors for the last time on October 27th. Bringing movies to Williamsburg, to Brooklyn, and to New York City, first as a DVD rental store, and then as a bar and theater, has been a tremendous honor. Thank you so much to all of our loyal and passionate customers. We couldn’t have done it without you!

We’ve got some great events still coming up, so please join us over the next two weeks as we celebrate Videology!

On a personal note: this writer worked there as a clerk for almost its entire run as a video store, and hosted many events when it was a screening room, like the BrooklynVegan holiday party in 2013. Its sign has been a landmark on the corner of Bedford and S. 1st. It will be genuinely missed.

Videology still has two weeks of events planned, including tonight’s Movie Trivia, Stranger Things Bingo on Wednesday (10/17) and lots of Halloween programming, including a Suspira Costume party on its final night (10/27).
