With the coronavirus outbreak causing many people to stay at home as often as possible, we’ve been asking musicians what music they’re listening to in isolation, and this playlist comes from The Movielife/I Am The Avalanche frontman Vinnie Caruana, who shared songs he says "make me feel good" during these otherwise uncertain times (he's also been livestreaming shows on StageIt). Unless coronavirus gets in the way, The Movielife are currently scheduled to play three US shows in May, and I Am The Avalanche have a one-off Brooklyn date and UK tour that same month.

For his self-isolation playlist, Vinnie chose songs from Grateful Dead, Ween, The Stone Roses, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jens Lekman, The Thrills, and several others, while adding some commentary for each track. Head below to view his picks...

Peter Matthew Bauer - "Philadelphia Raga"
Sometimes I’ll just loop this tune and listen to it 10 times in a row. It has a soothing, meditative quality. Perfect way to take a break from the madness.

Ween - "Ocean Man"
A ray of fucking sunshine. Bathe in it.

Grateful Dead - "Ripple"
Goodwill for all. Hippy gang vocals towards the end make you forget that your uncle still stands by his decision to vote America’s greatest embarrassment into office.

Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians - "What I Am"
I used this song as an escape as a kid. One of the first cassette tapes I bought on my own with money I earned mowing lawns.

The Thrills - "Big Sur"
In 2003, I played Reading and Leeds Festival in England and strolled around all day watching bands. I heard this song coming out of a tent and was introduced to The Thrills. Charming Irish band. Sun-drenched melodies. California worship.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - "Lying With You"
I like when Charlotte whispers at me. Play the whole record from front to back. You’ll want to smoke a cigarette. But don’t.

Jens Lekman - "A Postcard to Nina"
Nina, I just want to check in. Cuz I think about you every second. So I send you this postcard just to say, don't let anyone stand in your way. Yours truly,
Jens Lekman

El Perro Del Mar - "Change of Heart"
Float and forget.

Gerry Rafferty - "Right Down The Line"
My favorite love song of all time. Written by a Scotsman. A Scotsman!!

The Stone Roses - "Mersey Paradise"
I’ve walked around Liverpool blasting this in my ears so many times. Keeps me warm even when the damp cold day soaks into our souls.
