Violent Femmes played a free show in Prospect Park on Saturday (6/18) as part of the 2016 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival . While they have a new album, We Can Do Anything , freshly out, Violent Femmes mainly stuck to the hits, opening with “Blister in the Sun,” and finishing with “Add it Up,” making time for “Gone Daddy Gone,” “Kiss Off,” “I Held Her in My Arms,” “Prove My Love,” “American Music,” “Gimme the Car” and more which had the crowd singing along. Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses, who recently released a new EP. opened the night. Pictures from the whole evening are in this post. Up next at Celebrate Brooklyn!: a ticketed show with Ray LaMontagne tonight (6/22), and a free show with Alvvays, Ducktails, and Big Thief on Thursday (6/23).
Violent Femmes, meanwhile, have announced some more tour dates for July in the rest of the country, and have released an animated video for “Issues” off We Can Do Anything. All The video, as well as a list of remaining tour dates, are below.
