SXSW ended perfectly. There were two parties (that I knew about) to choose from that Saturday night (March 18, 2006). VICE had Wolfmother, the Stills, Favourite Sons, and a rumored appearance by ZZ Top. Factory People (a clothing store) had We are Wolves, Voxtrot, and White Rose Movement. I went to Factory People because I still hadn't seen We are Wolves or White Rose Movement, and Voxtrot was guaranteed to be good. (PLUS, I knew my friends could get into Factory People. The VICE party required these passes that we didn't collectively have enough of). Missing ZZ top would have sucked - ends up it was just a ZZ Top cover band anyway.
Voxtrot went on second, and their show exceeded my already high expectations. It was the second time I saw them that day, and the third time I saw them at SXSW. The whole place was drunk on free alcohol and dancing on the showroom floor. Ramesh (feeling the energy?) even jumped into the crowd for at least two songs. Their live shows keep getting better & better. I'm sure that's partially because I keep gettimg more & more familiar with the material. I'm sure that's also due to the experience they're gaining from their (what seems like) constant touring. I hope they polish their recorded sound to live up to the live show by the time they release their first full length. In the meantime, their EPs are doing just fine for them (and me).

Crazy Talk was there and interviewed Ramesh. Ryan Schreiber wasn't there, but I wish he was because his review of the only Voxtrot show I wasn't at was just so-so. I saw three Voxtrot shows at SXSW, but I was at four. I left the Big Orange one before they went on.
