Baltimore punks War On Women just released their killer new album Capture The Flag (read our review), and they're on tour now in support of it. The day it came out (4/13), they celebrated with a show at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus with Trashy and Sister Munch. War On Women are always a powerful, intense live band, and this show was no different. Pictures of it are in the gallery above.

The band will play the tristate area again on Friday (4/20) at Asbury Park Brewery ($10 at the door gets you in), and they've begun adding summer dates, including two more around here. They play Long Island's Amityville Music Hall on June 30 and New Haven's Cafe Nine on July 2. Tickets for New Haven are on sale now and tickets for Amityville should be on sale soon. War On Women also play The Fest in October. Updated dates are listed below.

In case you haven't heard it, War On Women's new album features punk legend Kathleen Hanna, and Kathleen also recently praised War On Women in an interview with Popsugar:

"There's actually very few people who do what War on Women do, to be honest," said Hanna. "There's been so much good music made by women, but I haven't heard that many where they're so overtly signing about sexism and about the patriarchy. That was a real happy surprise for me."

"We do such similar work in the world that I felt an immediate shorthand with them," she added.
That innate understanding — "hanging out with other women who are in bands and grappling with the same issues," said Hanna — is incredibly important, especially when it comes to discussing music.
