Wardruna announce North American tour; singer releasing solo EP
Last year, Norwegian dark folk outfit Wardruna released their third album, Runaljod – Ragnarok. This year, band leader Einar Selvik is releasing a two-track ten-minute solo EP, Snake Pit Poetry, which is due out on October 20 via By Norse Music. It includes the title track, which was written for The History Channel's Vikings, and an acoustic version of that song. The song features Icelandic singer Hilda Örvarsdottir, who has contributed to Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel score.
Einar played Enslaved's NYC extravaganza last year, and Wardruna have now announced their first-ever North American headlining tour (we caught them in Norway in 2010 when former Gorgoroth frontman Gaahl was still a live member). They write:
Over the last few years we have received countless emails and comments from fans across the US and Canada requesting us to “cross the pond” and perform more in North America and now we are FINALLY able to announce our first ever tour in North America. In February 2018 we set out to do a handful concerts in the eastern US and Canada. We hope that many people will come and support us as well as spread the word and we hope that this is only the first of many American tours in the time to come!
The tour hits NYC on February 3 at Town Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday (10/6) at 10 AM, and there's a BrooklynVegan presale for the Town Hall show starting beforehand. Stay tuned for more details. All dates are listed below.
