Jazz/hip hop keyboardist is in the midst of his Blue Note residency, and that continued this past weekend with more guests. October 11-14 were all with announced guest Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def), and on Saturday (10/13), Anderson .Paak (who was also a surprise guest the previous weekend) showed up to join Mos Def and Glasper’s band. Like they did the previous weekend, they played Slum Village’s “Fall In Love” with Anderson .Paak freestyling a lot of the lyrics on the spot, and this time Mos Def joined in to rap his classic “Ms. Fat Booty” over the song. Eventually, they transitioned into Aretha Franklin’s “One Step Ahead” (which “Ms. Fat Booty” samples) with both Paak and Mos Def singing.

On Sunday (10/14), Mos Def brought out his Black Star partner Talib Kweli and they did their classic “Thieves In The Night” with Glasper and his band, followed by Talib’s own “Love Language.” Watch videos of both of those performances below.

On Saturday night, Mos Def also made his way to Barclays Center to join Gorillaz on stage. Black Star have also been teasing a new album.

Glasper’s residency takes Mondays off but continues on Tuesday (10/16) and Wednesday (10/17) with Christian McBridge and Nicholas Payton, followed by a run from 10/18-10/21 with Bilal joining for Miles Davis tribute shows, and more shows after that through the end of the month.
