watch Debbie Harry sing Happy Birthday to Michael C. Hall at Mercury Lounge

Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum, the trio led by actor Michael C Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) that includes Matt Katz-Bohen (keyboards in Blondie, Culture Club, Cyndi Lauper) and drummer Peter Yanowitz (Morningwood, The Wallflowers) who Michael also performed with when he played Hedwig on Broadway (Peter was the drummer in that show). They have their debut EP on the way — they previously released song “Ketamine” and just released new single “Come Talk to Me” (watch both videos below) — and have been playing shows, like at Mercury Lounge last Saturday night (February 1) which was also Hall’s 49th birthday. Coming out to lead the crowd in “Happy Birthday” and to give him cupcake with a candle in it to him, was none other than Debbie Harry. “I think my wish already came true,” Hall said before blowing out the candle. You can watch video of that below.

Debbie had even more ties to the whole night. In addition to Matt Katz-Bohen being Blondie’s keyboardist for the last 10 years, the night was opened by Club Kid DJ / Toilet Boys frontperson Miss Guy who is also a good friend of Debbie’s.

Debbie, who released a memoir last year, also recently played the Clash tribute at Mercury Lounge’s sister venue Bowery Ballroom in celebration of London Calling‘s 40th anniversary.
