watch Heart's Ann Wilson, Megadeth, RHCP & more cover Soundgarden in tribute to Chris Cornell

Within hours of Chris Cornell’s sad death yesterday, tributes and messages from fellow artists began pouring in via social media. Soundgarden was scheduled to headline Rock on the Range tonight (5/19), but instead the festival will be doing a tribute to Cornell in the headlining spot they would have played. Other artists have been paying tribute to Cornell by covering his songs. Megadeth covered “Outshined,” in Tokyo, although Dave Mustaine confessed, “I don’t sing like Chris, I could never sing like Chris.”

Elsewhere: Ann Wilson of Heart covered “Black Hole Sun” while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Josh Klinghoffer of Red Hot Chili Peppers played Chris’s solo contribution to the Singles soundtrack, “Seasons”, during the encore of RHCP’s Indianapolis, IL show at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Umphrey’s McGee did a Temple of the Dog cover and played “Hunger Strike” at their Norfolk, VA show. Watch videos of all of that, as well as…. Scott Stapp of Creed, who performed just the chorus of “Black Hole Sun,” below.

Chris Cornell played what would be his final show with Soundgarden hours before his death. Watch videos from that as well.
