In Tall Buildings (aka Erik Hall) released his new album Akinetic earlier this year on Western Vinyl (order yours), and we're now premiering the video for "Overconscious" from that album. Here's what director Kyle Obriot says about it:

The idea behind this video is pretty straight forward: I want to see Erik play his song. No Frills. No VFX. So that's what Erik and I set out to do. I showed up on his farm one Sunday and we spent the day composing shots and playing with light. The quick cuts of overexposures we captured reflect the growing intensity of the song. And showing just a glimpse of Erik is a nod to the song’s title.

It is indeed a straightforward performance video, and a very intimate one at that, which matches the song's vibe well. If you haven't heard "Overconscious" yet, it's delicate piano pop that fans of Death Cab for Cutie or Nada Surf would probably dig. Check out the new video and stream the full album below.

In Tall Buildings is also releasing an EP this fall featuring two new songs and a remix by Wild Belle's Elliot Bergman (who played woodwinds on Akinetic), and they have two upcoming shows: Ogden, UT with Broken Social Scene and Chicago with his Western Vinyl labelmates Caroline Says and Jessica Risker. More details below.
