Japanese Breakfast did a special livestream on Thursday night (5/14) to help support her crew while tours are all cancelled and postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic. Michelle Zauner promised "some new songs and special covers" for the stream, and on that she delivered. After making a glass of her usual "tour beverage," which consists of raspberry Emergen-C, a shot of tequlia, a lime, and seltzer, she proceeded to play a solo set of new songs, covers of Randy Newman ("Living Without You", which she said is her "favorite Randy Newman song of all time") and Yoko Ono ("Nobody Sees Me Like You Do"), and older material as both Japanese Breakfast and Little Big League. She spent some time playing piano as well as guitar, saying that she was nervous about it but that she wrote a lot of her new album on piano. The new songs sound great in solo form, and we're looking forward to hearing more of them. You can watch a recording of the whole stream, and donate HERE.
