Dolly Parton wasn't the only big surprise guest at Newport Folk Festival. Kermit the Frog made an appearance too, backed by a band including former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss on drums, and Kermit invited My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James to join him on stage halfway through the song "Rainbow Connection." Watch below.

Janet Weiss' bands Quasi and Slang also recently announced a tour together, which overlaps with Sleater-Kinney's upcoming tour. For more insight of the current state of Sleater-Kinney, Laura Snapes just interviewed Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker (and St. Vincent) for very good feature for The Guardian. They discuss that press photo, pushing forward musically and lyrically on their new album, #MeToo, being inspired by Rihanna, working with St. Vincent, Janet leaving, and much more. Read it here.

As for My Morning Jacket, they recently shared a previously unreleased song from the upcoming The Tennessee Fire reissue, and they have some upcoming shows.
