Waxahatchee Kevin Morby

watch Kevin Morby & Waxahatchee cover blink-182 and Everclear on livestream

As they promised they would, last night Kevin Morby and Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield did a collaborative livestream on Instagram Live. They played some of their own songs, including a song by Katie’s much-loved former band P.S. Eliot and material off Waxahatchee’s anticipated new album Saint Cloud, and they also did some fun ’90s covers like “Dammit” by blink-182 (who Kevin wrote a letter to in 7th grade but never sent it and then posted it on Instagram last month) and “Santa Monica” by Everclear (which they also covered together on tour in 2017). They talked about meeting when The Babies and Waxahatchee played Glasslands (RIP) together in 2013, and they also talked about Saves The Day a lot (“I love Saves the Day,” Kevin said). The stream also included some virtual guests, like Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes), Katie’s sister Allison Crutchfield (who was also in P.S. Eliot), Jess Williamson, dancer Marlee Grace, and more.

If you missed the livestream, the archive will be live for a few more hours on Kevin’s Instagram story (only on mobile). Watch it while you can! The “Dammit” cover opens the show. UPDATE It’s sadly no longer live now, but you can watch a couple of video clips below.

They’re also doing it again on Waxahatchee’s Instagram next Thursday (3/26) on the eve of Waxahatchee’s album release.

Also, today Bandcamp is waiving its cut of all sales so today’s a good day to pick up some Kevin Morby and/or Waxahatchee from Bandcamp.
