Screaming Females

This past February, news went around the internet that Charli XCX recorded a punk rock cover of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off." Not to be the punk police, but we're stretching punk's definition prettttty far if we're calling her cover that. However, NJ punk trio Screaming Females just gave the song their spin for A.V. Club Undercover, and we may finally have that punk cover we were all hearing about three months ago. Marissa Paternoster replaces the song's peppy vocals with her trademark howl, deadpans the spoken word middle section, and cuts the cheerleader chant in favor of a (you guessed it) ripping guitar solo.
