Single Mothers

watch Single Mothers' video for new song "I'm Wrong" + stream Drew's quarantine playlist

Single Mothers have just put out a deluxe reissue of their 2018 album Through A Wall on Dine Alone (order yours), and it comes with the previously unreleased song “I’m Wrong.” Through A Wall is Single Mothers’ loudest, fastest, most whiplash-inducing album to date, and “I’m Wrong” is no exception. We’ve also got the premiere of the new video for “I’m Wrong,” which was shot in quarantine. When asked about shooting this one, frontman Drew Thomson simply replied, “This is what not touring looks like.” Watch below.

The album was also remixed and remastered, and Drew adds, “I’m very proud of the lyrics on Through A Wall. I wrote them fast and furious and with very little editing. I work well with a dead line. When I listen to the first mix of the record I think it did its job..it gave off a feeling. With the re-mix and re-master I wanted to give it more than that, I wanted to give it an impact.” You can stream the full remixed/remastered album below too.

Meanwhile, we also asked Drew about what music he’s been listening to in quarantine, and he made us a playlist with songs by Titus Andronicus, Hop Along, Waxahatchee, Sleaford Mods, Screaming Females, Dave Hause, Talking Heads, Jason Isbell, and more. He says, “Here’s a list of songs from artists that get me through the day, the quarantine, the future. All of these songs mean something, in the deepest depth of them – perhaps all the same thing. In such a time of uncertainty I find myself clinging to the familiar. Music is always uncertain – that’s the trade off of doing something you love, but this is different.”

He also adds, “All these songs I’ve listed here have impacted me one way or another. Without touring I’ve had a lot of time to revisit songs, revisit why I write songs to begin with. Sometimes when you’re on the road non-stop pushing what really can be looked at as a product through cynical eyes, you forget that its art – and before there was a purpose for pushing it, you just made it. I truly love writing songs, you can tell all these people truly do too.” Check out his playlist below.
