Stephen Malkmus stopped by CBS This Morning Saturday today (6/30) to talk about his new album with The Jicks, Sparkle Hard, as well as his legacy in indie rock. When asked how he felt about the '90s resurgence, he half-joked, "I think that's a good thing 'cause it benefits me, and i hope it goes on forever." He also talked a little about the bug he picked up that caused him to lose his voice on a few dates of his current tour, which he was still getting over when he played two Brooklyn shows this month. "People know that I'm not the best singer anyway, and they like me and they know the songs, but still when you don't have the voice you're put in a point of emotional vulnerability," he said. "It's tiring, to be there are have people worrying about you. You feel like you have to give even a little more when you'd just like to play your songs and have them sound great, say a couple witty words, and be on your way." He and The Jicks also played the lovely "Solid Silk" from Sparkle Hard. You can watch that, and the interview segment, below.

The Sparkle Hard tour resumes on the West Coast in mid-June. All dates are listed below.
