Classic-sounding but brand new metal outfit Sumerlands released one of the best heavy debuts of the year recently with their self-titled album on Relapse. On October 1 they stopped by NYC for a loaded show at Union Pool where they were joined by Eternal Champion (with whome they share a member), the excellent young Philly doom crew Crypt Sermon and Chain. Video has surfaced (via Unartig), of full sets by all four bands, which are all awesome and can be checked out below.

After that show, Crypt Sermon played their final show of 2016, opening for the legendary Saint Vitus (with original singer Scott Reagers) in Crypt Sermon's hometown of Philly.

While they're done for the year, NYC residents will get to see them right away in 2017, when they make the trek to open for Khemmis at Saint Vitus on January 14 (that show also features support from Sanhedrin). Tickets for that show are still on sale. Crypt Sermon have also promised to deliver their second LP soon, so hopefully we'll get some news on that before long.

Meanwhile, Khemmis's second LP Hunted is very imminent, dropping October 21 via 20 Buck Spin. They've recently shared the third song from that LP, a long, proggy riff factory called "Beyond the Door." You can listen to that, and check out all those videos from the Union Pool show, below.
